During his studies he worked at National Research Council of Palermo in the field of genetics (studying genetic mutations in lysosomal storage diseases), and at Institute of Biomedical Research of A Coruña (INIBIC) in the oncobiology field (studying the mechanisms involved in EMT in cancer progression).
